The Douay-Rheims Bible is an English translation from the Latin Vulgate Bible, the official Bible of the Catholic Church used in papal masses. It’s commonly known as Douay Bible. The name is based in the fact that the translation was produced at the English College at Douay. The College has migrated to Rheims and editions were printed there as well.
Douay and Rheims are English spellings of the french towns of Douai and Reims. This Bible date to 1582 for the New Testament and 1609 for the Old Testament.
